The MR2
Championship is designed to provide close,
competitive racing in real sports cars - at an affordable
price. The key to this is to limit the allowable
modifications on what is an already superbly balanced sports
car, shifting the focus to driver ability and providing for
some truly exciting, close quarter racing.

The
Championship currently has separate classes for both the
earlier lightweight 1.6 litre mk1 MR2 and the later more
powerful - but ultimately heavier 2.0 litre mk2. An
invitation class for the 1.8 litre mk3 MR2 (Roadster / MR-S)
is planned and will be introduced during the 2008 season.
Due to it's
unique appeal, the MR2 Championship attracts a wide array of
drivers. The sensible costs appeal to people who had never
considered racing before, as well as those already in
Motorsport seeking better value for money. Since
modifications are tightly controlled, competitors are far
more open about their cars and the atmosphere in the paddock
is relaxed and friendly. There's always someone willing to
show newcomers the ropes and share driving and preparation
